I have owned several ESCORT detects over the last 20 yrs! Early on, I had some lemons! I bought the 9500iX several yrs ago!! it's the best ever!! Well, at least for me!! Last week, I picked up HP wif active radar on I44 over 3 miles from his trap.

Thought that this detector would pick up all radar signals but unfortunately I was quite wrong. I was clocked in traffic on a california highway & got a hefty speeding ticket. The detector never went off at all. I wasn't going over a hill, or around a corner, it was on a straight flat strip of road. Very unhappy I spent a nice chunk of money on this detector & now going to spend a nice chunk of money on the ticket.

Excellent detector. I use it primarily on back roads and highways. Very quiet detector and when it triggers an alarm, it is real. K and Ka bands are detected with very good range. Haven't encountered laser where I live so can't comment. Standard cups are flimsy but the big suction cup sold separately works well. Along with Waze, it is very helpful to be aware of when you are being monitored.

Have used Escort products for many years. Purchased the Passport 9500IX last year and overall the product does seem to give alerts on a regular basis. However was clocked by laser for speeding on the highway and no alert was given at all. Customer service told me that the product was unable to detect laser if it was pinpointed exactly on the license plate and did not bounce off any other surface. Driving in traffic on a busy interstate, it does seem difficult to believe that the laser could be pinpointed with such accuracy, but either that is a possibility or the radar detector is not really accurate in detecting laser. While I understand that either could be true, I am going to assume that this product is not accurate since other detectors have not resulted in lack of signal. So unfortunately would not recommend this product.

I use it to go to work twenty miles Monday thru Friday and it has always saved me from speeding tickets. I also go to Dallas which is five hours from where I live every three weeks and it has saved me multiple times! The false radar auto learn is a great feature too as it stores false radar signals. Easy to use as you can use it right out of the box and don't really have to change any settings.

Been using Escort products for 30+ years....constant false alarms in city makes it useless there... Good on highway.

I bought a 8500 X50 in 2008 and can't count the times it has saved me. Every two weeks for the last 6 years I drive 600 to or from work. plus 100 miles a day at work and 500-1000 miles on my days off. two years ago I bought the 9500 xi to upgrade from the X50. in the 6 years I had the old one I got ZERO tickets. the first drive to work with the 9500 Xi I got 2 tickets and another on the way home. I switched back to the X50 and have been pulled over once with it. but that was my fault it worked perfect. Put the 9500 in the girlfriends car and she go lulled over the first time she used it. it is sittin in the junk drawer.

I am a person who does not like flying and thus, drive on most trips. We do trips to Florida from the Chicago area a few times a year and this is the best detector I've ever had. BEL stunk and under preformed and I have been nothing but happy with my Passport (solid aluminum beast years ago) and my battery operated passport years later and then this 9500iX. I have kept my subscription for updates in place and plan to continue it. When I first bought it, it was after a trip to and from Florida and my son and I noted "wow, we didn't encounter ANY radar alerts all trip"...the BEL went to "hel" and croaked whilst providing an "active" detector light. I ordered the 9500iX and immediately did the update and the next trip to Florida this little 9500iX chanted "Speed Trap" and sure enough, the county mounty was in the median looking to ruin someone's trip-but NOT ours thanks to Escort! The only issue I have with my unit/genre is perhaps no longer an issue, it uses the older style mini "non USB" type plug IN the detector and I'm used to the "standard" type mini-USB's but that's a minor gripe. I love the mute button on the cigar lighter plug and extra alert lights on it and the coiled cord is as Escort always provides, very high quality. I'm still, believe it or not, on my first set of suction cups and they hold ok still. I think I'd rather if the unit was encased in aluminum for more ruggedness but so far she's doing fine.

Excellent Detector - Great Update System... however I purchased the $30.00 Super Cup for my new 9500ix- the suction cup stem stretched, and then broke OFF the mount... maybe a bad one so I buy another Super Cup... this is one's suction cup is now stretched, and ready to snap. I just called Customer Support. After a $60.00 investment, time and frustration; the most she offered was free shipping ($5.00) for another $30.00 "special mount"- ie. a Sticky Mount. I'm sorry, that's NOT standing behind your product.
