I've had this toaster for about two months. I like the sturdiness of it, but I am a little disappointed with the way it toasts. I can toast regular white bread on two sometimes it has to go to three, but if I toast a sliced sourdough, then you have to turn it up to four using the first slot - but the back of the toast is toastier. It doesn't toast evenly. I tried using the Back slot and the same thing happened the front of the toast is sort of light, but the back of the toast is toasted.

Shopped around for two weeks to replace my old Kitchen Aid toaster. I'm happy with my purchase. Like the one it replaced, the high setting will toast the bread to a dark brown only if the bread is dry or a little stale. Fresh bread takes a second toasting at a low setting for a minute or two. Good product, good quality, but the high setting could be set a a little higher, The setting may be a fire liability issue.

I ignored the reviews to my dismay as I experienced the same issues with poor toasting as others mentioned. It limped along unreliably for a few years until a couple months ago when the inside heating element stopped working. I had to toast my bread twice, flipping after each time. During the last few months of its life I not only got to enjoy some extra time with it due to the two cycles per each piece, but then I would get a surprise every time as I never know what I would get per slice and per side. I did not make the same mistake again and opted for another manufacturer on my latest toaster.

Purchased this product exactly 2 years ago. It replaced a previous kitchen aid toaster I had for 16 years. Since day one it never toasted evenly but lived with it. Previous toaster perfectly toasted both sides for 16 years. Today the inside elements stopped working on this newer model. Was hoping this would have lasted a bit longer than 2 years given the price. Replacing with a toaster from a different brand which has a 2 years warranty and whose price is considerably less than this model. Definitely disappointed with the quality coming out from Kitchen Aid. Expected way better.

I own this toaster for 3 years and for the last 6 months or so, it doesn't toast like it should....either burns it or barely toasts it. A toaster should last longer than 3 years

I bought this hoping that like my other KitchenAid appliances I would be extremely satisfied. Unfortunately, I am not. This toaster just like the inexpensive toasters I have purchased over the years fails to toast consistently and evenly. Many pieces of bread are very toasted on one edge of the bread to hardly tan, sometimes not even that on the other edge of the bread. I am disappointed but do not want to spend more money on another toaster. We currently just keep turning the bread to different areas to try to get a nicely toasted piece.

This product consistently toasts only one side of the bread, making it necessary to reverse the slices to toast the other side. This takes twice as long as it should, and I am at a loss to understand how this flaw passed muster in the first place! I know it is a flaw because Kitchen Aid replaced my first toaster for this reason, but the replacement does exactly the same thing!
