I drink this as is with no sugar or creme, one time to start my day and that does the trick for the whole day! Yes, this machine extracts the caffeine quite well.

The description of the features of the two models sounded identical. I decided to take a chance and save a few dollars, and while I still don't have a way to compare this model and its more expensive brother, I am totally pleased with how this one works. The new innovations by Krups such as the adjustable tamper ratched and the puck ejector make this really easy to use. And of course, it makes great espresso and foams the milk beautifully for lattes and cappuccinos. I feel like a great barista !
