    The SmartCode Deadbolt with Home Connect Technology featuring Z-Wave enables the door lock to wirelessly communicate with other devices in home. The lock allows the user through a web enabled device to remotely check the door lock status, lock or unlock the door and receive text or email messages.

    I bought 3 of these in 2018. Zwave has been very reliable. Very handy to program on my phone. (requires a hub) The finish is starting to wear a bit. But, expected. I would buy again if building another home.

    Been using about a year.... Half the parts are plastic, took an hour to set master code. Been trying for weeks to add other user codes. Never works and just beeps and flashes red and green, helpful. Can't connect to my security system (like advertising) unless I have a professional come enter a password or buy another hub to connect everything. Which will also require a professional with a password. Trying to find instructions on redo master password and all instructions tell me to download another set of instructions. No phone app seems to work with it either. So happy I went and got the more expensive model

    I bought my house almost 2 years ago and I have not had any issues except for the battery draining however switching alarm companies and now I'm trying to sync this model over to the new company - What would I need to do to do that? Would I need a DSK code or how would I sync this to the new alarm system.

    I've been through 4 different Kwikset Smart Code locks in the 9 years that I've owned my home. I have them on both my front and back doors. In all four cases, either the lock motor or the keypad electronics failed. I've performed all the troubleshooting steps listed on the Kwikset website, to include factory resets. I've even called the technical support line and all confirm that the electronics are poorly built. At the very least, Kwikset should consider selling replacement parts, such as the keypad or a motor module without a z wave card, so I could save the parts that are still serviceable and not have to replace an entire lock. The lifetime warranty on these devices is basically worthless because it does not cover the components most likely to fail. I'll be looking for a manufacturer with more reliable electronics and a warranty that covers key failure modes. I'll really liked these devices for the short time that they work.

    I bought this lock to replace the failing builder grade lock on our main entrance. The original was a basic quality deadbolt and lever that survived 14 years of daily use. The SmartCode lock was a drop-in, easy replacement and easy to re-key to the other doors. Our Z-wave version is connected to Samsung SmartThings. So far, assuming you use decent batteries, and the default configuration settings - battery life has been good. Using the generic device handlers, the SmartThings App give me adequate notice for a battery change. The SmartThings App notifies when and who unlocks the door. If this product continues to perform, I will replace the other entrance locks with a similar product.

    on my 4th year with this lock and kwikset brought zwave locks to the marketplace that work great, very happy with this lock. Could be more satisfied if the lock container was smaller however, still the best product on the market for my use case.

    I've had this lock four year. The first 2 years I had no issues. Then the battery started draining fast anf sometimes the keypad would be non-responsive. Now the keypad is completely unresponsive.

Fresh alkaline batteries should last 6 months, and if your battery life is less than this, please check your door alignment and verify the long mounting bolts are not too tight on the mounting plate. Also, ensure that your door jamb hole is at least 1 inch deep to prevent jamming. For the keypad, we recommend performing the factory reset on the lock and the manual door handing process, described in the installation guide linked below.     I purchased this device about 2 years ago. In that period of time, I can remember two instances where the numberpad was unresponsive, which forced me to use a key. Other than those two instances, the lock has been great.

    I have built an extensive home automation network for a family member including lights, door sensors, motion detectors and many other pieces. This was the last piece they wanted. I bought about 6 weeks ago and so glad I decided we went with the 914. It connected to our network in seconds and was very easy to configure. It installed in minutes and programming was again VERY easy. Master code set and a couple of extra codes for family members. Finally I spent about 10 mins setting up custom options in the network. I have since bought two more of these ( for our homes ) as well as the add on module to convert deadbolks. Have been a kwikset customer for 25 years and these new pieces did not disappoint.

    This Smartcode Deadbolt is a great lock to keep my smart dog from opening my door. I have levers on my door and my dog would jump on the door and on the way down his paw would push the lever down, open the door and run out in the backyard when my Gardner or Poolman shows up. With the Smartcode I can go out to speak to anyone with out having to take a key and not worrying if my dog will be charging out side.
