The SmartCode Deadbolt with Home Connect Technology featuring Z-Wave enables the door lock to wirelessly communicate with other devices in home. The lock allows the user through a web enabled device to remotely check the door lock status, lock or unlock the door and receive text or email messages.

Used this on my garage pedestrian entry door and absolutely love! Such a great idea. No more fumbling with keys. Easy to use and very safe. Great for my elderly mother to use getting in and out as well.

First, I don't need to use my key to lock it from the outside. Second, if forgot to lock it, it automatically locked by itself as long as the door is close. Third, if I forgot my key, I can always enter the correct code (as long as you don't forget) to unlock it. Lastly, for the last 4+ months I'm very satisfied, hope it will last for a while. Thanks.

Love being able to remotely give access to my short term rental property to various guests. Two issues: 1.) battery life - I have to change the batteries about once per month and the lock is used infrequently because the property is only occupied about 50% of the time. The controller is only about 6 feet away so difficulty connecting wirelessly to the controller should not be expending battery as one customer service rep suggested might be the problem. 2.) In cold weather keyless entry does not work - this may be an alignment issue with my particular lock so may not be an issue with the mechanism itself. In such cases the key unlocks the door without issue. Both issues would be mitigated by changing the design such that when a valid code is entered the user could operate a thumbturn, thus not using battery power to retract the deadbolt and not failing to operate due to minor alignment issues (caused by weather swings.)

This lock was very easy to install. I replaced a regular deadbolt lock with this electronic lock in less than an hour. It has worked reliably for a year now. I also like the feature on the inside of the house where the lock flashes green if the door is unlocked and red if the door is locked.
