Ok, so. I work a lot from home and often do some design work and photo editing. I have been thinking of getting a big monitor, since I still use my laptop..(I know.). Well, this one is big and I mean big. My first clue was the box in which it arrived.. Huge. Though well packed and protected. Inside you have all your manuals and paperwork, all the cabels you can possibly need and then the monitor itself with a stand. When you put it all together it is very heavy. The stand is very sturdy though, so there was no problem. The cable management inside the monitor is a good idea and I really like that it swivels, a really handy trick. It's very massive and black so not exactly aesthetically pleasing, but it does the job, so what. One thing I have to mention is it takes a lot of space, so if you don't have a desk deep enough, it might be a bit uncomfortable, because it needs to sit a bit further away from you since it's so big. The screen format (horizontal) wasn't a big deal for me, yes, it needs some getting used to, but after that it's great and very productive. The picture is bright enough and very clear. What I hate about it is the biggest power brick I've seen. I understand why the need for it and you can hide it too, so this doesn't affect my review, just thought I'd mention it. So to sum up. Big screen for more productivity. It's massive and heavy, so think ahead where you put it. Great picture, great features. I do recommend this one.

This LG monitor is a great monitor with some special features that make a fab experience. Some of these include: - its low blue light, flicker-free technology and automatic brightness adjustment that prevents your eyes being strained; a USB-C so you charge your laptop and transfer data at the same time without extra cables cluttering up your desk; a fantastic Ergo stand you can tilt, pivot, extend, retract or change the height of the monitor for comfortable posture while working. The C-Clamp & Grommet and One Click Mount make it to install easily without other equipment. It has a unique 2560 x 2880p resolution so you basically get two monitors worth of screenspace - this is very handy for big projects, programming and multitasking. It has a sensor that reacts to light, making the screen brighter in bright areas and darker in the dark. It provides a comfortable working environment. The negatives are that the user booklet is quite limited in information how to actually setup the monitor on the pc and get the dual screen. The menu button is found on the bottom rear part of the screen and can be quite fiddly to move to your desired settings.

A too tall monitor with limited versatility

I'm a software engineer and I bought this monitor to replace a 29" ultrawide monitor + laptop screen setup. My goal was to use a single monitor with a keyboard+mouse. I am using it with a Macbook Pro. Also I have a narrow desk (60cm). It's a great monitor, but not a love at first sight. What would've made me a happy customer in order of importance: * Monitor is too tall, I would like to have proper support for rotating the monitor 90 degrees * A better monitor arm, which holds the monitor very close to the column (I had to replace it) * No speakers and therefore no bezel at the bottom My issues detailed: * When using the monitor as intended, I find it too tall. Depending on the monitor's position you either have to look up too high at the top of screen, or the bottom of the screen is too far away down. Same issue as curved vs flat ultrawide monitors. I personally don't like the 16:18 ratio, I can't recommend using it this way, unless you rarely have important content in far-away areas of the screen. * It doesn't support natively if you want to rotate it 90 degrees to get 18:16, which is in my opinion a much better ratio. This is basically two small 21:9 (20.25:9 to be exact) screens on top of each other. The HUD won't rotate and you loose the PBP feature if you want to use the monitor with two inputs as two separate screens. I would really like LG to release a firmware update where rotation is properly supported. * Another issue is when using the screen in 18:16, that none of the resolution settings result in a clear picture, texts are very slightly burry. (While some of the same resolutions are working well in 16:18). This might be just a limitation of Mac OS, not sure whether Windows/Linux handles this any better. * The ergo arm is great quality, but I had to replace it as it doesn't go far back enough (what a shame). You will lose 15cm of your desk, while with the arm I already had this is only 5cm. On a 60cm narrow desk this matters. * I personally don't care about the built-in speakers, I would've like it better if there is none and you can have maybe no bezel at the bottom. (like e.g. the Huawei Mateview)

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I picked this up as a new main screen on my trading rig.. I really enjoy this screen and the monitor stand is great.. Plan on getting 2 more for a triple setup when these get back in stock.. It's a productivity monitor and it does that great. Will be recommending this to all the Apes,, Minnows, Sharks and Whales. Double or triple up...

    Unique Design. Good Productivity Monitor

So I own two of these... I don't know if LG's designers and engineers originally intended for this but it seems to be working out fairly well. I primarily use them to write code and read documents for my job. The unique aspect ratio seems a lot more suitable for this than a traditional 16:9 monitor. 1440p is a good resolution for fitting a lot of text on the screen without it becoming too small that you have to scale up. The overall size is quite good *for a single monitor*, but I think two of them is necessary as I am coming from a 2 x 24in monitor setup. LG advertises a single one of these monitors as a replacement for a dual monitor setup, but I can't imagine this being anythng but a downgrade unless one was previously accustomed to staring at a sub 18 inch laptop screen. I set the monitors up with one vertical (normal) and one horizontal (rotated 90 degrees). Originally, I had intended to to rotate both of them 90 degrees in opposite directions but the ergo stand only allows 90 degrees counter clockwise. I found I have grown to like this current configuration and no longer consider it a problem. But I do wish LG would at least allow the stand to have more flexibility. Before I bought the monitors, I was planning on complaining about all the excess features LG built into it. This includes the built-in KVM and extra inputs (the 2x HDMI ports) and USB PD. However, I found out that my new company issued laptop works perfectly with these features and am no longer able to do that. I can switch video and USB simultaneously between my home computer and my company laptop with just 2 clicks of the monitor's menu. My company laptop has 2 display capable USB C ports so all I connect to it is 2 USB C cables to have 2 x display, keyboard/mouse, and charging. This removes a ton of cable clutter from my desk. My only complaint is that the USB B upstream from my home computer is USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0, not sure why LG decided to cheap out on this one port. The price of this monitor is still quite high considering the fairly average display specs, especially if you don't need all these other features like the KVM. I did run into some software issues, but I'm not confident they are actually caused by the monitor. On my 90 degree rotated monitor, in Windows all videos will play upside down, I didn't experience this on my Linux machines. But on my Linux machines that same rotated monitor also made tearing quite noticable, I couldn't find any vsync option in the menu. But I tried out wayland instead of X11 on Linux and didn't have any issues then. It's likely all of these issues were graphics driver problems but it might be a deal breaker if you have to use a certain OS or software suite with the monitor rotated. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase. I think my productivity has improved using these monitors and my setup looks a lot cleaner compared to when I had my old monitors.

I bought this for myself for video editing and to see more information. In video editing, all your audio and video tracks are listed vertically. So it's quite a challenge to see everything on a typical landscape monitor. But on this, it's so easy to see everything. It's much better than turning a regular monitor vertically because regular monitors are too narrow so you can't see much left and right. But this monitor lets you see a lot in all directions. The image is bright, color accurate, and just a joy to view. The monitor arm is fantastic so your monitor appears to hover and it's very easy to adjust with little effort. You can easily rotate the monitor to a more traditional orientation but why? It also has dual inputs so you can connect 2 devices or 2 computers to the same monitor and that was really convenient for me too. And the best endorsement of this monitor? When my bosses saw it, they asked me to buy 7 more for the pharmacy!

This monitor has a very unique aspect ratio that makes it feel almost like a square, as it's essentially two monitors stacked on top of each other! As someone who's always been switching back and forth from a single monitor to dual monitor setup, this is a nice compromise in the middle. I love that it has speakers built in since I like to use my laptop closed with external keyboard and mouse. It also has an ambient light sensor for automatically adjusting according to the room's brightness, super neat! The bezels around the screen are slim and while I wish the chin was slimmer, the overall profile of this monitor is quite nice! Lastly, I love being able to use a single USB-C cable to get all the peripherals attached on the monitor working.

This is a beautiful, dynamic monitor with great utility. The instructions were easy to follow to mount and adjust onto my desk. It was also a piece of cake to mount the monitor to the mount arm-all I had to do was slide the monitor on and it clicked into place. The mount arm itself is sturdy and easily positioned. This monitor is perfectly suited for working on spreadsheets, word documents, PowerPoint and other work software (both landscape and portrait modes). Monitor is also perfect for gaming and streaming media. Using monitor for entertainment purposes is best viewed in landscape mode. The built in speaker has wonderful sound quality. Within a workspace there isn't much of a need to have the volume higher than 25-30 despite being able to go up to 100. This is an all around high quality monitor certainly more suited for working, but can also be utilized for medium to lower performance/gaming entertainment (60 FPS, 1080p).

I was looking for a second monitor to orient vertically for productivity (mainly coding) and this is as about as good as you can get. If you haven't tried it before, typical 16:9 widescreen monitors oriented vertically are just too tall and narrow to use comfortably. Having said that, I found that the native aspect ratio of this monitor (16:18/8:9) isn't ideal either, because a lot of applications have useful sidebars with minimal adjustments, so I use it rotated at 9:8. One minor annoyance is that I haven't found a way to rotate the OSD, which makes it disorientating to use without tilting your head. More importantly, I often find myself wishing it was slightly wider - either 5:4 or 4:3 - to fit an IDE's text editor with 110-character lines, a file explorer on the left and a code outline on the right. Similarly, it's not quite ideal for reading a single 8.5x11 paper page, since that's 1.3:1. The panel itself is pretty much flawless, as far as I can tell (I don't have a calibration tool to check), and the nearly-square aspect ratio is great for photo editing if you're switching between landscape and portrait shots. The mount seems solid but is also remarkably heavy - heavier than the monitor itself. At the moment, the pricing is not very reasonable and presumably as high as it is only because there's no competition. It gives you the area of two 21.4", 1440p 60hz widescreen monitors glued together but costs more than two good 27" 120+hz 1440p (or 60-90hz 4k) widescreen monitors, so it's not a great value proposition. The mount should be sold separately.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Do not purchase if you plan to grommet mount

If you're planning to grommet mount this monitor, through holes in a desk for example, do not purchase. I purchased 3 monitors and all the stands come with a screw locked in to stop the bottom half of the clamp from coming out. These screws are in so tight they are impossible to remove even with a drill. I tried everything for multiple hours to try and get these screws out and eventually had to saw off 2 of the screws by hand just to get the bottom half of the clamp off. I don't know why these screws come locked in so insanely tight but it was like this on all 3 of the units I purchased so can likely guarantee it'll be the same on any unit purchased, so don't bother unless you have a saw and a few hours to spare. It's a real shame because the monitor itself has been great but this is a fatal flaw in the stand that has caused so much frustration getting them set up.
