Extreme flickering occurs when specific colors are displayed. If you somehow manage to ignore it and avoid an epileptic seizure, you're rewarded with temporary, burn-in-like image retention. This effect is only alleviated by displaying a plain white screen for a few minutes or by waiting a couple of hours for it to disappear on its own.

Do not buy! I bought this monitor back in July 2023 and was initially in love with it. Huge screen, 5K2K resolution, nice curves.... what's not to like? Except that I started experiencing flickering, burn-in / ghost images, flashes, etc. Initially it was extremely rare and disappeared quickly, but eventually became a permanent feature. I opened a case in May 2024, shipped my monitor to LG, and it took over 2 months (!!) to get a monitor back. I received a brand new unit, and sadly I'm experiencing the same issues again, which I've confirmed with three different MacBooks (a M1 Pro, M2 and a M3 Pro), and with different cables. It seems to be a known issue with this monitor, as I now see many reviews and complaints online. I have now asked LG to refund me as the monitor is completely unusable on Macs it looks like.

Constantly flickers and speakers went bad. LG would not honor the warranty - they claimed that the return boxes were backordered - I've been waiting months for a return box. Finally bought a Dell monitor.

Its a lemon. Beautify when it works. When the screen door/flicker starts, it sucks. Especially when you are working and cant walk away to let it clear (which is appears to do after a few hours.)

Hi there! Your monitor is a crucial component of your daily productivity! Let's smooth out those jitters and get your display back to its sparkling best! Are the Digital Fine Contrast (DFC) or the Smart Energy Saving (SES) features in your monitor active? If so, please try disabling them as these are known to cause screen blinking. Using the joystick button, please go to your monitor's settings and go to General, 'Smart Energy Saving', and select 'Off' to deactivate the function. To ensure the Digital Fine Contrast is turned off, go to 'Settings' and select 'Picture.' Here you'd be able to disable DFC. Please ensure that all cables connected to your monitor are securely attached. Loose cables have been known to cause this issue. Feel free to send us a private message on social media (@LGUSSupport) with your phone, model,& serial numbers. We'd be happy to have a closer look and explore all resolution options! ^Chris

It was a nice monitor when it worked. Thunderbolt port failed shortly after the one year LG's manufacturer warranty. I consider trashing it for it is ungodly expensive to repair. I would not buy it again.

Was great for several months, now has the famous flicker, vertical lines, ghosting/burn-in issue. Literally appeared one day out of no where. Called support, and they told me I could send it in, but I apparently have to go and find a box that will fit this massive thing and then ship it to them? There is no way I can find the right box that will not destroy this monitor during shipping. So now I'm just stuck....

First monitor I got was dead on arrival, second flickers like crazy and has bad image retention issues. The useless support from LG doesn't work. It doesn't matter what kind of cable I use or if I update the GPU drivers. Avoid this monitor.

Got this to Replace my Dell 4K monitor and very happy. The additional desktop space for work is completely worth it, Great picture, colour and works beautifully with my RTX3090 for both work and gaming.

I bought this monitor in January of 2024. I purchased it because it had better resolution than competing monitors as well as being an IPS monitor and I prefer color accuracy and brightness. I have a window that can sometimes shine from behind me (despite the blinds) and it disturbs me a bit. The slight tilt down as well as the higher brightness than other monitors were also key decisions for me. I haven't truly utilized the 'picture in picture' mode of the monitor. Knowing those features were present was nice. Bonus points that I can charge my late-2019 (Intel) MBP from the monitor itself.
