The Nikon NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S is the world’s first constant f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens with a built-in 1.4× teleconverter — covering a 120mm to 300mm range at a fast, constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, then extending to 168–420mm at f/4 with the flip of an internal switch. Designed as the ultimate professional tool for sports, wildlife, and action photography, this S-Line lens delivers the versatility of five focal lengths (120, 200, 300, and with TC: 168–420) in a single barrel that weighs just 6 pounds — approximately 515 grams lighter than the F-mount predecessor despite integrating a teleconverter that wasn’t there before.

The built-in 1.4× teleconverter is optically matched to the lens — not a separate accessory bolted on — meaning image quality with the TC engaged is comparable to a prime lens at those focal lengths. Because the teleconverter is internal, the lens maintains its full dust and drip-resistant weather sealing when switching between the native 120–300mm range and the extended 168–420mm range. The switch takes a fraction of a second. No dismounting, no element exposure, no sealing compromise, no missed moments. Compatible with the optional external Z-Teleconverter TC-1.4× and TC-2.0× for even further reach beyond 420mm.

The optical design is extraordinary: 30 elements in 24 groups, incorporating 1 ED glass element, 1 Super ED glass element, 1 fluorite element, 1 SR (Short-Wavelength Refractive) element, and 1 aspherical element — a combination of special glass that controls chromatic aberration, reduces color fringing, and delivers edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire zoom range at every aperture.
