LUMIX's First 25-600mm Lens with Full-Range F2.8 Aperture

Experience LUMIX's first compact digital camera to reach a full range F2.8 bright aperture in a 600mm lens whose quick shutter speed lets you capture moving subjects even at long distances. At the heart of this lens is high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT optical technology that allows the 25mm ultra wide-angle lens to reach optical brightness across a full 24x zoom range (35mm camera equivalent: 25-600mm). This camera lens enhances all kinds of shooting situations from photographing people indoors to shooting a large structure or a sweeping landscape. The integration of 5 aspherical lenses and 3 ED lenses makes this happen. Its high precision correction performance prevents image distortion.

Shoot like a Pro with these Professional-Grade Control Features that come with the LUMIX FZ200 Digital Camera

A newly developed 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor and high performance image processing LSI Venus Engine provide high speed response, high sensitivity recording and superb image quality to capture even the most fleeting photo opportunities. The ratio of the MOS sensor and the Intelligent Noise Reduction system in the Venus Engine adjusts photos and videos taken in sensitive areas and creates clear, crisp imagery. For low-lit situations, the FZ200 digital camera's multi-process Noise Reduction System produces dramatically clear photos and videos. Intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the iA Mode overlays several still pictures consecutively shot at different exposure levels and produces a single composite picture avoiding over or under exposure.

Take a Picture and Record It in Full 1080/60p HD with 24x Zoom

The Motion Picture designated button, on the FZ200 digital camera, lets you record while taking photos without having to switch modes. Make videos in full HD 1,920x1,080 60p in both AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4) and MP4 formats. The powerful 24x optical zoom, with its redesigned side lever for easier zooming access, captures highly natural expressions and fast-moving sports scenes that the naked eye may miss. Play it back in dramatic slow motion and see the difference. Creative Control and Photo Style render highly unique expressions by coordinating colors to your subject and its surroundings. The digital camera's Creative Video Mode lets you adjust the shutter speed and aperture any way you like when shooting videos.

The New Ultimate Ergonomic Hand and Zooming Control with the FZ200 Digital Camera

The LUMIX FZ200's camera body has been designed as a full-fledged shooting style digital compact camera with definitive controllability. The side lever has not only been redesigned, it is now easier to use as it is conveniently located giving you smoother zooming control. On this point and shoot camera, the focus can also be easily changed with this lever, allowing you the photographer to concentrate on shutter operation so you can to catch that perfect photographic moment.

Snap in Under a Second with the FZ200 Digital Camera

The FZ200 digital camera allows for you to click in the moment with its quick start-up time of approx. 0.95 sec. and Light Speed Auto Focus. Get 12 fps full resolution photographs with the 12.1-megapixel MOS sensor as you take a series of shots. Snap consecutively at approx. 5.5 fps/2 fps with Auto Focus Tracking. And the newly added focus mode AF Flexible resets automatically when your subject moves. Even high-speed burst shooting is possible with the electronic shutter. In Intelligent Burst Shooting, the frame rate sets according to the subject's movement. And faster data transfer is possible as the DMC-FZ200 compact digital camera is compatible with the Ultra High Speed-I standard SDHC/SDXC Memory Card.

Advanced Technology Reduces Glare and Minimizes Handshaking

Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating technology minimizes light reflection within the entire zoom range (380nm-780nm) thus reducing glare and producing super clear pictures. The LUMIX FZ200 camera's powerful 24x optical zoom can be increased to the 48x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function, taking advantage of its Intelligent Resolution technology which brings images to life. The digital camera's POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) minimizes blur, even when zoomed, and Active Mode effectively suppresses handshake vibrations in both still picture taking and video recording.

A Camera that is So Easy to Use

Shooting subjects on-the-go under strong sunlight is easy thanks to a minimized screen freeze and the newly developed 0.2-inch EVF (Electronic Viewfinder) with a 100% field-of-vision that adds high resolution to every scene. With an LCD that rotates 180 degrees on its side and tilts 270? up and down, dynamic, artistic framing is possible with the FZ200 digital camera. Prop it on a tripod and use Auto Focus. In iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments in both photo and video recording. In iA Plus Mode, you have a range of creative settings from Motion Deblur to Scene Detection to much more.

A LUMIX Camera that Makes Sharing Your Photos With Your Social Media Circles Easy

With the LUMIX FZ200 digital camera, upload photos and videos instantly to Facebook and videos to YouTube sharing the URL with family and friends via email. Pros: Quality optics. Easily understood menus. Viewfinder. Good grip. Classic mode dial. Good hand feel overall. Cons: Focusing takes too long and at times doesn't respond unless its moved to a different object. Some settings change back to previous during operation. F2.8 in A mode leaves fuzzy edges around objects contrasting with background. Other thoughts: Thinking that a new sensor could have used more MP, unless it would have caused more noise. Zoom power of 24X is practical and finds objects fairly quickly. Overall the camera looks and feels good and solid.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Pros: Excellent lens, especially shooting in darker places from far away. Small lightweight with great zoom. Took a picture of the moon and can see even some craters on the edges! Cons: Lightweight makes it a little shaky at the highest zoom. Other thoughts: Would be great if it came with a protective case.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Pros: Light weight. good (FUN) point and shoot. BuyDig's price [...] Cons: Cheap feel. PLASTIC. Telephoto needs digital extender to be impressive Iris and focus manual controls not easily manipulated. Other thoughts: A bridge camera that is not professional quality as DSLR's go. Don't get your hopes up about quick manual controls. Everything is a menu selection with small wheels and buttons. Good as a complex point and shoot with video function. Don't pay the usual list price of $599.00 for this camera.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Panasonic Lumix DCM FZ200 Bridge Camera

Pros: Lightweight, Excellent lens with 2.8f through zoom range which extends to 24x optical The camera is very versatile and the perfect travel camera for those who don't want to lug their SLR and equipment everywhere. This camera has almost all the features of my DSLR. The articulating rear display is large and easily visible allowing full view of the shot before taking it. The focus lock is one of the most useful features on the camera and the variety of focus modes is as good as any DSLR I have used. 1080p video capabilities are excellent! Cons: Outside of the point and shoot mode, this camera can be a little intimidating to learn and the factory supplied manuals are of little help. Fortunately there are excellent online tutorials to teach you how to use the camera. The only weakness I have seen is a little loss of quality shooting in low light conditions without flash. That's to be expected of a small CMOS format, but the camera makes up for the shortcoming by excelling in all other areas. Learning the camera's capabilities will also help users take excellent shots in all conditions. Other thoughts: I purchased this camera specifically for a take-anywhere anytime camera. The fact that is shoots excellent video was a plus. I specifically wanted the Leica lens because of its 2.8f throughout the zoom range. This is the only model that has the Leica lens in the Lumix line. I was not disappointed as the FZ-200 exceeded my expectations. I wanted it before a recent trip to Hawaii and Beach Camera was flawless in their execution and delivery. They will be my source for cameras in the future!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Pros: Wide open f2.8 Leica lens all the way to 600mm. Nice EVF, LCD, lightweight, Very good image quality at low ISO Can shoot RAW files Cons: Noise shows up at ISO setting above 200 and requires noise reduction software. Menu system is quite complicated, definitely not as easy to operate as a Canon DSLR . Much slower than a DSLR when trying to photograph moving objects, but great for still shots Location of various buttons and dials sometimes accidentally pressed because of the small size of the camera No histogram (at least I could not find one in the camera's menu system, or in the User Manual but one does appear when using Adobe Lightroom for post processing) Somewhat higher in price compared to its 'bridge' camera competition. Other thoughts: I decided I needed a lightweight 'bridge' camera because toting around a Canon DSLR + 400mm lens and with a tripod was getting somewhat cumbersome and strained my back if I carried one around for more than a couple of hours. I needed the 600mm reach for birds and wildlife, and the f2.8 lens helped. So after much research comparing the Panasonic with other bridge cameras I decided that the Panny was the one for me. The camera has a very extensive menu system, so that reading the Owner's Manual thoroughly is a must. One should print out the 200-odd pages rather than troubling to load the CD every time one wishes to consult the Manual. Bridge cameras, because of their tiny sensors, cannot compare to DSLRs which have larger sensors and therefore superior image quality and with less noise. But for photos to be viewed on a computer screen, the Panasonic's specs do quite well. Some people have claimed to be able to print out very decent 11 x 14 prints, but I will venture to say that this may depend on the subject matter and camera settings. I try to use very low settings, such as ISO 100 but am forced to bump the ISO higher in poorer lighting conditions. I have only had the camera for 3 weeks and have taken over 600 shots, so I am still learning the complexities of this camera. I only used iA setting once for a flash fill-in (very nicely) but I tend to avoid 'dumb settings' because of the fully automatic feature of iA. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the complicated menu system and location of some buttons and dials

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
