Rokinon 85mm F1.4 Full Frame Telephoto Lens for Sony E

The AF 85mm F1.4 Full Frame for Sony E is the fourth new lens introduced this spring by ROKINON. It is ROKINON’s sixth autofocus lens designed specifically for optimal quality imaging with Sony full frame mirrorless cameras and as a high speed 127.5mm telephoto equivalent with Sony APS-C models. Its complex optical construction consists of 11 Ultra Multi Coated (UMC) elements in eight groups, including High Refractive Index (HR) glass for a more compact lens with high image resolution. The achromatic design incorporates Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass to effectively correct chromatic aberrations and minimize peripheral softness. This autofocusing 85mm was designed with creativity in mind.

The bright F1.4 aperture provides excellent performance even when shooting indoors or in darker conditions and precise selective focus control. Attractive bokeh is created through precision lens polishing and a nine blade iris for natural, circular, out-of-focus highlights at all apertures. The ROKINON AF 85mm F1.4 for Sony E utilizes two Linear Ultrasonic Motors (LSM’s) that only have to adjust a single inner lens group. This internal focusing design provides fast, precise, and quiet autofocusing and a non-rotating 77mm filter mount.  The durable aluminum body is weather sealed for enhanced dust and water protection to enable photographers to continue shooting even under adverse conditions.

The AF 85mm F1.4 FE is inspired by the optical vision of the MF 85mm F1.4 AS IF UMC, which has been loved for its beautiful out-of-focus images since its launch in 2008: however, this new lens develops the original's existing strengths with a much more advanced optical design, newly optimized for mirrorless cameras. Fast and efficient autofocus with DLSM Technology 
DLSM (Dual Linear Sonic Motor) works with ultrasonic vibrations, which cannot be heard by human ears, to successfully give a silent autofocus performance. The accurate high frequency signals, controlled with Rokinon's own protocols, precisely operate the DLSM. Specialists in optics, mechanical engineering, and electronics, have researched cooperatively to give these powerful results for a short telephoto lens.
