Beautiful TV with some annoying quirks

Summary of the forthcoming review: This TV is fantastic and I would highly recommend it, but it's not perfect. The viewing angles are great, the panel itself is flawless, and the build quality is really solid. That said, the TV's software lags a bit, the One Remote takes some getting used to, and Bixby is still just okay. Initial Setup: Sizewise, this is a big, but pretty light TV so a team of 2 should be able to set it up without any issues. If you're looking at the screen, all of the inputs are on the right side of the TV and the power cable comes out on the left. If you aren't mounting it on the wall, the Q8F smartly routes the cables through the legs of the stand which was really helpful for keeping the back of the TV clean. I was able to put the HDMI cables for a PS4 Pro, Nintendo Switch, and Apple TV 4K through the stand without any issues. When you first turn the TV on it'll run you through the initial setup and do things like setup the wifi. I ran into my first issue here because the 3rd step includes logging into a Samsung account if you have one. The problem was that it took about 3 minutes to bring up the prompt to actually login. Not a big issue, but standing there and being unable to do anything while it loaded up was annoying. Aside from that setup was quick and easy! Video Quality: The video quality of the Q8F is fantastic. I wouldn't say it's as good as a high end OLED TV, but it's very close and easily the best LED TV I've ever used. I'm not a fan of oversaturated colors so I had to make some initial adjustments to tailor it to my needs. Those changes took maybe 5 minutes, not a big deal. My panel itself was perfect with no stuck pixels or any defects. Software & One Remote: I don't know if it's a remote issue or a TV software issue, but when I press the Home button it lags. When I try to get to the app listing or change sources, it lags. Sometimes it's a few seconds, and sometimes I have to exit out of the bar and try it again in a minute or so. If I'm not switching between sources, the TV runs fine, but switching from PS4 to Apple TV can be a hassle. I wish the remote had a button to just switch between inputs. That would make my life so much easier. Definitely not a deal breaker and I haven't had issues once the input is selected, but switching around can be a headache. Still reading? Cool! Last note, if you have any concerns about OLEDs, this TV is a fantastic alternative. I've really enjoyed mine and would buy it again

have the pleasure of experiencing the new Samsung Q8 QLED television. I must say it shows the most beautiful picture that I have ever seen. I have a 4K television in my basement that I just purchased last year that I thought had a great picture, but now that I own the Q8, I see that the crispness of the picture doesn't even compare. The television has dark blacks, bright whites and crisp colors. You get a great picture from any angle and the television will adjust to any lighting conditions. No only does the Q8 give a great picture, it is easy to set-up. It is literally a plug and play device. I was able to take the television out of the box, plug it up and have it set up within minutes. The remote control is sleek and easy to operate. The best part about this television is that even it you misplace your remote, you can operate it using your phone. You can also control any Smart items in your home from the television and phone and it even has voice control. The television came pre-installed with a lot of great apps that I use regularly like HULU, Netflix and Amazon. All of my subscriptions were setup and ready to go in now time. The only con I have is that I don't understand why Samsung decided to use the One Connect Box with the Q7 instead of the Q8 which is the higher end of the two. It would have been great to have the One Connect Box with this model or the capabilities to upgrade to the add-on. Otherwise, I can't find one bad thing to say about the Q8. It has been a great addition to our home. We can't wait to upgrade our game system to see what it really can do.

So I got the 2018 aled about a couple weeks ago and man this picture is pretty amazing. Love the addition of Bixby makes searching or doing simple tasks on the TV so much easier. I do wish I had a couple more hdmi ports and I look forward to more apps to download. But overall I would reccomend this TV to anyone who loves to watch sports, movies and play video games.

I'm coming from an 1080i 55inch TV. Which in 2006 was the top of the line set. As its well over 10 years old now - I've been in the market for new TV for quite awhile now. So with the opportunity to experience the latest from Samsung I jumped on it. And am I glad I did! Its amazing how far TVs have come. Thinner, lighter, brighter, and smarter. To be able to just talk to the remote in natural speak and have it do exactly what you want is great. Had it come with a universal remote would have been the icing on the cake. Setup is fairly easy and the on screen menus guide you through step by step. I ran into a little snag as I opted to hook it up through my AV receiver. Things got a little more difficult. Just as the Tv is smart so are modern receivers. They end up battling each other for dominance. which isn't the greatest for the end user. and why I ended up deducting a star. It took some time to get everything wired up and working right. The TV didn't want to give up its speakers (which do sound pretty amazing btw) for my surround sound set up. Finally the solve all was to use a digital audio cable. now all is good. So now that all is set up its time to check out what the Q8F and its quantum dots are all about. The Q8F comes loaded already with Netflix Amazon and many other platforms for music and movies. I opted to go with an action movie to test all the Samsung has to offer including Motion Blur and its Color Spectrum. Batman Dark Night is a great test with many dark scenes to test the shades of blacks. The TV did not disappoint it handled what the movie threw at it beautifully no lags no blur only a crisp clear picture. I was impressed! The other thing that is impressive is the Ambient mode setting. What a great idea! To show artwork in a way that looks realistic. I haven't figured out how to add my own images but that could be because I spend most of the time using it for its main purpose. To quickly sum up the Q8F It is fantastic and beautiful both when its on and when its off.

I have owned large screen Tv's since the old rear projection type. It is truly wonderful to see the evolution of the Samsung 4K Qled. I own the 8 class, and it's to bad it doesn't accept the one cable like my last 75 Samsung. However, WOW! the picture is definitely like looking out a magic window. So clear and defined, my gaming systems look so much better. One other item to discuss, it's internet connection. My experience has been a lightning fast connection.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
