Summary of the forthcoming review: This TV is fantastic and I would highly recommend it, but it's not perfect. The viewing angles are great, the panel itself is flawless, and the build quality is really solid. That said, the TV's software lags a bit, the One Remote takes some getting used to, and Bixby is still just okay.
Initial Setup:
Sizewise, this is a big, but pretty light TV so a team of 2 should be able to set it up without any issues. If you're looking at the screen, all of the inputs are on the right side of the TV and the power cable comes out on the left. If you aren't mounting it on the wall, the Q8F smartly routes the cables through the legs of the stand which was really helpful for keeping the back of the TV clean. I was able to put the HDMI cables for a PS4 Pro, Nintendo Switch, and Apple TV 4K through the stand without any issues. When you first turn the TV on it'll run you through the initial setup and do things like setup the wifi. I ran into my first issue here because the 3rd step includes logging into a Samsung account if you have one. The problem was that it took about 3 minutes to bring up the prompt to actually login. Not a big issue, but standing there and being unable to do anything while it loaded up was annoying. Aside from that setup was quick and easy!
Video Quality:
The video quality of the Q8F is fantastic. I wouldn't say it's as good as a high end OLED TV, but it's very close and easily the best LED TV I've ever used. I'm not a fan of oversaturated colors so I had to make some initial adjustments to tailor it to my needs. Those changes took maybe 5 minutes, not a big deal. My panel itself was perfect with no stuck pixels or any
defects.
Software & One Remote:
I don't know if it's a remote issue or a TV software issue, but when I press the Home button it lags. When I try to get to the app listing or change sources, it lags. Sometimes it's a few seconds, and sometimes I have to exit out of the bar and try it again in a minute or so. If I'm not switching between sources, the TV runs fine, but switching from PS4 to Apple TV can be a hassle. I wish the remote had a button to just switch between inputs. That would make my life so much easier. Definitely not a deal breaker and I haven't had issues once the input is selected, but switching around can be a headache.
Still reading? Cool! Last note, if you have any concerns about OLEDs, this TV is a fantastic alternative. I've really enjoyed mine and would buy it again
