CEA-G Series CFexpress Type A Memory Card

High capacity and CFexpress 4 support

The 1,920 GB (CEA-G1920T), the 960 GB (CEA-G960T), the 480 GB (CEA-G480T), and the 240 GB (CEA-G240T) cards support the CFexpress 4 standard for high-speed transfer with VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) 400 certification for stable recording. With five times the drop strength and 10 times the bend resistance of the CFexpress Type A standard, these cards withstand tough conditions.

High-capacity for long recording and speed

With capacity up to 1,920 GB (CEA-G1920T), you can shoot confidently and without worrying about space. This is ideal for long 4K video sessions or high-speed still bursts in action scenes.

    High-speed performance

The 1920 GB (CEA-G1920T), the 960 GB (CEA-G960T), the 480 GB (CEA-G480T), and the 240 GB (CEA-G240T) cards support the latest CFexpress 4 standard, offering read speeds of up to 1800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1700 MB/s-up to 2.4 times faster than previous models3. The smaller capacity cards still offer impressive read speeds of up to 800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 700 MB/s, making them ideal for all but the most demanding workflows, and helping streamline and boost productivity in the field and at your desk.  [1] Maximum read speed.

    Dependable videography

All CEA-G series cards also support the VPG400 standard, which ensures stable video recording, with a minimum sustained writing speed of 400 MB/s. This functionality helps prevent dropped frames even during high bitrate shooting, so you can record continuously and with greater confidence.

Faster workflows with our CFexpress Type A card reader

The optional MRW-G3 card reader4 is optimized for Sony CFexpress Type A memory cards, so you can transfer data via a USB 40 Gbps5 interface and take full advantage of high-speed backups and more efficient workflows. Support for Windows and macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android OS for smartphones and tablets6 lets you import data to computers and mobile devices.

    Made incredibly TOUGH

Thanks to Sony's unique TOUGH card design, our CFexpress Type A cards offer over 10x the CFexpress Type A standard bend resistance, with additional rigidity tested to 150 newtons of force. Designed for absolute dependability, the resin body is five times3 more impact-resistant than the CFexpress Type A standard and can withstand drops of up to 24.6 ft7.

Sony's TOUGH for the toughest places

You can rely on Sony's CFexpress Type A memory cards to work dependably in extreme temperatures, X-rays, electrostatic environments and intense UV light. A dust- and moisture-resistant design2 with an IP57 rating provides the reliability needed for outdoor use in challenging conditions7.

    File Rescue: Recover lost files

Even if things go wrong, you can avoid disaster with downloadable Memory Card File Rescue8 for Sony CFexpress Type A memory card customers. This free software can recover accidentally deleted files and corrupted photos and videos in todays' common formats.

Super-charge your professional video and photography workflows with Sony's CFexpress Type A memory cards—ideal for advanced cameras like the α7S III. The world's first CFexpress Type A cards, they deliver extraordinary speed, around twice that of the best SDXC cards, in a similarly compact body. With write speeds up to 700 MB/s and professional-level durability, Sony CFexpress Type A cards open up a wide range of new imaging possibilities.

    Extraordinary response speed
Dramatically expand your photographic possibilities, with uncompressed continuous RAW shooting for fast-moving action such as motor sports and wildlife. Writing speeds of up to 700 MB/s far outperform even the best SDXC cards, ensuring ultra-fast camera buffer clearance for responsive, continuous shooting.

    Dependable videography
Sony CFexpress Type A cards are optimized for continuous, high-bandwidth data writing, making them ideal for professional high-bitrate video recording such as 4K 120p capture on cameras like the α7S III, where dependability is critical. For extra reassurance and video recording stability, they also carry the VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) 400.

    Ultra-efficient workflow
Dramatically accelerate your workflow with the optimized MRW-G2 card reader and ultra-fast read speeds of up to 800 MB/s for data transfer and backup. Work seamlessly with high-resolution photos and high-bitrate video, to turn projects around at the speed of your imagination.

    Rugged. Reliable. Ready.
Partnered with professional equipment like the α7S III, CFexpress Type A memory cards are perfect for the unpredictability of sport and location shoots or the hazards of outdoor expeditions. They are designed for extended professional use in the most challenging environments—from snow-covered mountains to sand-blown deserts—so you can shoot, swap and store with total confidence.

    For the roughest places
Thanks to Sony's unique TOUGH card design, our CFexpress Type A cards offer over 10x greater bend resistance than standard CFexpress cards. Designed for absolute dependability, their rigidity is tested to 150 newtons to protect your card data during drops from up to 24.6 feet — 5 times that mandated by the CFexpress Type A standard.

    For the toughest conditions
You can rely on CFexpress Type A memory cards to work faultlessly in extreme temperatures, harsh electrostatic environments and intense UV light or X rays. With IP57 dust and moisture ingress protection your data is safe even from a drop at the beach or an accidental cycle through the washing machine.

    Scan and monitor your memory
Over time, flash memory wears out and no longer records data. When used with the MRW-G2 card reader, Sony's Media Scan Utility automatically scans your CFexpress Type A memory card, keeping you informed of its condition so you can take action before it reaches the limit.

    Recover lost files
Even when things go wrong, you can avoid disaster with downloadable rescue software for Sony memory card customers that recovers accidentally deleted files and corrupted photos and videos in various common formats.

I think it's a great product. Worth taking the time to consider alternative high speed cards, they may be suitable for your needs. I would say this is only the case as the price difference doesn't stack up with benefit difference. Glad I bought the item though, and it's worth having a comparison for my needs. Whether I recommend this product really depends on the need and individual. Are you a pro? Then possibly, yes

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Very fast at recording multi shoots and plenty of storage. The only down side is it won't fit into the card readers i have, smaller in width, so now having to acquire a Sony card reader as i personally prefer to move stored pictures from the card onto my laptop. If i had been aware of this when buying a Sony camera, i could have brought a suitable card reader at the same time. Dispite this little glitch, i would recommend this to everyone

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I loaded it into my camera and immediately had issues. The card could only handle single shots without locking up the camera. When I tried to delete a photo taken, the camera froze and I was unable to turn it off. Had to reset it by removing the battery.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
