Sony DCR-PC1000 and Handyam Station
Sony's DCRPC1000 is packaged with the innovative Handycam Station that provides a quick and easy connection between the camcorder and your TV, VCR, or computer. The station also provides hookup to a USB or i.LINK supported computer for video and still image editing. The Handycam Station also supplies power to the camcorder for charging the battery, so while you're viewing or editing your footage, you're also getting your new camcorder charged up for your next adventure.
The DCRPC1000 is small in size, but it delivers big with its CMOS Sensor. Three - 1/6" CMOS sensors provide stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video (up to 530 lines of horizontal resolution) and still image performance. Unlike traditional CCD Imagers, CMOS Imagers require less power, providing better battery performance. What's more, by utilizing Pixel Offset Technology, the DCRPC1000 can capture still images at 1920 x 1440 resolution, directly onto Memory Stick Duo media. These high-resolution images are perfect for printing.
The DCRPC1000 makes it easy to see what you're recording. The 2.7" Wide Touch Panel Hybrid SwivelScreen LCD Display delivers excellent viewing clarity with improved resolution. The 16:9 format high resolution 123K pixel LCD screen rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp, detailed images for monitoring or playback. The Hybrid Reflective-Transmissive LCD panel provides accurate viewing in sunlight or bright light, virtually eliminating the wash-out common with traditional LCD screens.
Carl Zeiss 10x Optical Zoom
Carl Zeiss lenses have an advanced optical multi-layer coating offering less glare and flare with increased contrast. This results in vivid image brilliance, true-to-life color saturation and perfect renditions of subtle tones. 10X optical zoom capability in the DCRPC1000 is great if you can't get closer to the action, like at a sporting event, or if you simply don't feel like getting up and moving. The 120X digital zoom really lets you zero in, and the DCRPC100 features interpolation that makes extreme digital zooming clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms.
Capture stills and MPEG movies on to Your Memory Stick
The DCRPC1000 is compatible with Memory Stick PRO Duo Media. This means you can accomplish even more with your MiniDV camcorder. Yu can capture still images at 2016 x 1512, 1600 x 1200 or 640 x 480 resolution, directly onto Memory Stick DUO Media for easy transfer to PCs for emailing, printing, or sharing with other compatible Memory Stick devices. Digital still images will be sharp and clear with excellent definition thanks to the progressive shutter system. This mechanical shutter system provides Progressive Scan performance while utilizing an interlace scanning system. You can also record MPEG EX movies onto Memory Stick. Unlike earlier MPEG1 movies, MPEG EX movie mode will allow you to record uninterrupted to the capacity of the Memory Stick Duo media.
i.LINK and USB Interface
Sony's i.LINK interface gives you true digital-to-digital editing, without the "generation loss" of analog editing. The DCRPC1000 also features USB Streaming, helping you stay connected with family and friends by broadcasting live video with audio, via the Internet with the USB interface. You can even play back your favorite recorded scene stored on tape.
The DCRPC1000's Cinematic Mode is perfect for creating your own movie masterpieces. It lends a 24 frame film-like effect to your recordings. The Tele Macro Function is useful for shooting close up shots, but without having the camcorder casting a shadow on the subject. Images shot in the Tele Macro Mode will have the subject properly focused with the background unfocussed so that the subject stands out. An assignable Manual Dial is built into the body of the camera and can be used not only for focus and exposure, but may also be customized to control AE Shift and playback volume.
You can get creative when recording or playing back your videos with Sony's Picture Effect Modes. Effects available in Camera mode are Negative Art, Sepia, Monotone, Solarize, Pastel and Mosaic. Effects available in Playback mode are Negative Art, Sepia, Monotone and Solarize. For added clarity and detail when taking pictures in low-light situations, the built-in flash improves pictures, and reduces shadows. Finally, a manual focus mode allows you to manually adjust the focus of the camcorder using the assignable dial panel.
Image stabilization, Night Shot and anual Focusing
Sony Super SteadyShot picture stabilization is an advanced version of the SteadyShot system that controls an even higher range of shake and vibration frequencies, to achieve an even higher level of smoothness without degradation of video like some other image stabilizations sytems. So you can capture the truly moving experiences, and eliminate the shaky ones. With Sony's Super NightShot Plus Infrared system allows you to record natural color images in low-light conditions, but without the blurring common with other low-light recording systems. Another great feature on the DCRPC1000, especially for those who just want to shoot video, and not spend hours studying the informative owner's manual, is the Easy Handycam button. With the press of this button, most of the advanced functions of the camcorder are locked out, leaving only the buttons essential for recording operational.
