The Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum, Model IP1251, is a high-performance cordless vacuum designed for intelligent whole-home cleaning across carpets, hard floors, stairs, furniture, and pet areas. It combines Shark’s powerful cordless suction with a redesigned DuoClean Detect dual-brushroll nozzle, four intelligent detection technologies, HEPA filtration, MultiFLEX wand, LED headlights, and up to 70 minutes of runtime.

The PowerDetect system continuously reacts to changing cleaning conditions. Dirt Detect senses hidden debris and automatically boosts power when necessary, Edge Detect increases suction near walls and corners, Floor Detect adjusts brushroll behavior for different surfaces, and Direction Detect improves debris pickup as the vacuum moves both forward and backward.

The redesigned DuoClean Detect nozzle uses two brushrolls to tackle multiple floor types. It is designed to capture fine dust, larger debris, and embedded hair without requiring the user to swap floorheads when transitioning between carpets and hard floors.

DirectionDetect technology is particularly useful during everyday cleaning because the nozzle collects debris on both the forward and reverse strokes. This helps prevent the vacuum from simply pushing debris backward and can reduce the number of repeated passes required over the same area.

The MultiFLEX wand bends at the center so the floorhead can reach beneath beds, sofas, tables, and other low furniture while allowing the user to remain more upright. The wand can also fold for more compact storage when the vacuum is not in use.

Runtime reaches up to approximately 70 minutes in ECO mode when measured at the handheld vacuum, giving the system substantial cordless endurance for larger cleaning sessions. The included lithium-ion battery requires approximately 6 hours for a full charge.

A post-motor HEPA filter, combined with washable pre-motor foam and felt filters, helps capture fine particles from the vacuum’s exhaust. The vacuum has an approximately 0.7-quart dust cup, providing useful capacity without requiring a separate self-emptying base.

The PowerDetect can also convert to a handheld vacuum for cleaning stairs, furniture, upholstery, shelves, vehicle interiors, and other above-floor areas. The included 8-inch Duster Crevice Tool and Pet Multi-Tool provide additional versatility for narrow spaces, dusting, and pet-hair cleanup.

Unlike the PowerDetect Clean & Empty configurations, the IP1251 does not include an auto-empty base. This version uses a conventional removable dust cup and is intended for users who want the full PowerDetect cleaning system without the larger docking station.
